A unique approach to pain
Unlike any other provider, we focus on your ability to manage pain—integrating specialized patient education, individually tailored physical therapy, medical psychotherapy, comprehensive behavioral therapy, biofeedback and medical management. We empower you to finally stop pain from controlling your life—helping you regain what pain has taken away.
For many people trying to win their battle with pain, the Brooks Pain Rehabilitation Program is often the most effective and affordable solution. The overall goal of the program is to help you physically, mentally and emotionally manage the negative effects of pain. Patients have turned to the Brooks Pain Rehabilitation Program to minimize pain; improve and increase activities of daily living, strength, endurance and cardiovascular fitness; decrease or eliminate the use of narcotic pain medications; decrease depression and improve self-esteem; learn proper body mechanics and pain and stress management skills; and determine functional capabilities for the future.
At Brooks, our approach is holistic—treating your mind and spirit as well as your body. Each morning begins with an educational class, followed by stretching, strengthening and exercise. The remainder of the day is used for group relaxation therapy, biofeedback training, individual physical therapy, training in body mechanics, psychological counseling and one-on-one medical follow-ups to deal with all facets of your pain.
Becoming you again, one day at a time
The Brooks Pain Rehabilitation Program has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for over 20 years. CARF accreditation ensures a higher level of excellence.
Pain Rehabilitation is a day treatment program, and most patients continue living at home and attend the program during the day. However, arrangements can be made for patients coming from out of town. Although treatment generally lasts three to five weeks, the intensity and length of your program reflect your individual needs. After all, no two patients are alike.
For those who need it, we also offer an inpatient stay at Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital in order to accomplish other goals such as slowly weaning patients from narcotic/opiate pain medication. These patients too can benefit from pain rehabilitation after their inpatient stay.
