This year's 2008 Celebrate Independence is scheduled for Saturday November 8th at the Southpoint Marriot. The Keynote Speaker this year is, Lee Woodruff. After a roadside bomb in Iraq inflicted major brain trauma on ABC News anchor Bob Woodruff, his wife Lee was there to nurse him back to a miraculous recovery. Join us November 8 to hear her inspirational story of a caregiver’s trials, tribulations and triumph.

Chronic Pain and its Effect Upon the Family: The Issues and the Treatment Strategies Virgil T. Wittmer, Ph.D.
Virgil Wittmer, Executive Director of Brooks Behavioral Medicine and Director of the Brooks Pain Rehabilitation Program, will give an insightful presentation on how chronic pain and related symptoms affect relationships with significant others.
Traumatic Brain Injury: More than an Individual Injury Jeffrey Clark Wertheimer, Ph.D., Brooks Behavioral Medicine, and Katherine G. Martin, M.Ed., CRC, CPCRT, and Brooks Clubhouse Manager.
Dr. Jeffrey Wertheimer, a neuropsychologist for Brooks Behavioral Medicine, and Kathy Martin, Manager of the Brooks Clubhouse, will be co-presenting on brain injury recovery and community and vocational reintegration.

Stroke Family Caregiving: Matching Patient Needs to Caregiving Resources Barbara Lutz, Ph.D., RN, CRRN
Barbara Lutz, Assistant Professor at the University of Florida College of Nursing, will discuss how to identify patient and family caregiver needs and concerns when transitioning from inpatient rehabilitation to home.
Spirituality and Healing Among Rehab Patients Pamela S. Chally, Ph.D., RN
Pam Chally, Dean of the Brooks College of Health at the University of North Florida, will explore a review of recent literature related to spirituality and rehabilitation, themes related to spiritual well-being among traumatically injured patients and strategies for facilitating spiritual well-being among these patients.
All courses are eligible for 1 CEU credit hour for PTs, OTs, RNs, SLPs, and psychologists.
