Andrea Behrman, Ph.D., PT

Dr. Andrea Behrman receives Top Clinical Award

Andrea Behrman, PhD, Coordinator of the BRRC Locomotor Research Initiative and PI for the Kids Step Study and Co-PI in the LEAPS Study has received the first ever Alumni Excellence in Clinical Practice Award from Duke University.

This new award is given by Duke to an alumna who "embodies the professional characteristics and ideals of a physical therapist and who has demonstrated innovation or creativity in the delivery of physical therapy services/practice or exceptional caring in the delivery of physical therapy services to patients or clients."

Dr. Behrman was honored because she "has followed her passion for spinal cord rehabilitation from her first years of clinical practice through teaching Physical Therapy students and developing a research agenda to investigate the most effective clinical programs for those with spinal cord injury. Most importantly, Dr. Behrman is aiming to translate the best models of walking recovery programs into clinical practice. She is currently a leader in the Christopher Reeves network to educate and train rehabilitation clinicians to develop the best walking recovery programs. Dr. Behrman embodies the spirit of a master clinician who practices as a caring Physical Therapist." Congratulations Dr. Behrman.
